Job description:
A full-time PN Instructor is responsible for educating and training students in a Practical Nursing program through classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical supervision. The role ensures students are prepared for licensure exams (e.g., NCLEX-PN) and professional nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Design and update lesson plans, syllabi, and assessments aligned with state nursing board standards and program accreditation requirements.
- Instruction: Deliver lectures on nursing topics (e.g., fundamentals, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing) in classroom settings. Facilitate hands-on training in simulation labs and oversee clinical rotations in healthcare facilities.
- Student Evaluation: Assess student performance through exams, skills check-offs, and clinical evaluations. Provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Program Compliance: Ensure adherence to accreditation standards (e.g., ACEN or CCNE) and state regulations. Prepare reports and documentation for program reviews.
- Mentorship: Advise and guide students on academic and professional development. Address student concerns and foster a supportive learning environment.
- Professional Development: Stay current with nursing practices, educational methodologies, and licensure requirements through continuing education or certifications.
- Collaboration: Work with faculty, program directors, and clinical partners to maintain program quality and coordinate clinical placements.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with current and unencumbered licensure
- Masters of Science in Nursing Degree Required
- Able to meet the faculty requirements set by Board of Registered Nursing in the state in which you will work
- Experience which demonstrates: Current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students; strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- A documented background in educational methodology consistent with teaching assignments including but not limited to education theory and practice, or current concepts relative to specific subjects he or she will be teaching, or current clinical practice experience, or distance education techniques and delivery
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other MS office products as needed
