Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Summary:A leading U.S.-based manufacturer of high-precision components for energy, aerospace, and defense applications is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join their engineering team. This position supports the full product lifecyclefrom new product introduction (NPI) to process optimization and legacy product requalificationwithin a regulated machining environment. The company specializes in advanced manufacturing techniques including CNC milling, EDM (wire and sinker), 3-axis creep feed, and 5-axis grinding.
In this hands-on engineering role, youll serve as a technical liaison with major OEM customers, contributing directly to cutting-edge manufacturing programs while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for complex precision parts using multi-axis CNC milling, EDM, and advanced grinding methods.
Serve as the technical point of contact for key customers, managing engineering communication and change control.
Lead process validation and requalification efforts for legacy parts, ensuring compliance with internal and customer timelines.
Define machining strategies (tool paths, fixtures, feeds/speeds, EDM parameters) to maximize quality, efficiency, and tool life.
Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Tooling, and external vendors to implement effective, scalable production solutions.
Conduct root cause analyses, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts aimed at improving yield and reducing scrap.
Mentor junior team members and assist with training operators on new or revised processes.
Support CAD/CAM programming and simulation using tools such as Mastercam, Vericut, and SolidWorks.
Participate in audits, first article inspections (FAI), and documentation packages (e.g., PPAP/FAI).
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
510+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in highly regulated industries such as aerospace, energy, automotive, or medical devices.
Demonstrated expertise in:
Multi-axis CNC milling
EDM (wire and sinker)
Creep feed or CBN grinding
Strong proficiency in CAD/CAM platforms (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
Ability to interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and technical documentation.
Proven experience in customer-facing engineering roles.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience machining high-temperature alloys (e.g., Inconel, Hastelloy).
Background in legacy product requalification or reverse engineering.
Familiarity with Haas CNC controls.
Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or CI training/certification.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
